This Disclaimer explains the scope, purpose and limitations of our services, helping couples understand what a nikah conducted through True Nikkah does and does not achieve, and how a nikah certificate should be used and interpreted.
True Nikkah provides remote religious marriage ceremonies only. We do not provide civil marriage registration, legal advice, immigration advice, or religious rulings on matters beyond the conduct of your ceremony. All ceremonies operate under structured religious governance and are overseen by our Director, Dr Mahmoud Abdelrahman, in accordance with recognised standards of classical Islamic jurisprudence, ethical obligations, and our organisational Code of Practice.

True Nikkah provides online nikah ceremonies and associated Islamic marriage services to couples who wish to marry in accordance with Islamic law. This includes, but is not limited to, services supporting:
A nikah ceremony conducted by True Nikkah is a religious marriage contract concluded under Islamic law. Your ceremony is led by a qualified Imam trained in classical Islamic jurisprudence, who verifies that the conditions of a valid nikah have been satisfied, including the offer and acceptance (ijab and qabul), the presence of two adult Muslim witnesses, the agreement of the mahr, and the free consent of both parties.
A nikah certificate issued by True Nikkah confirms that, based on the information provided and the verification carried out during the ceremony, a marriage contract was concluded in accordance with the conditions of a valid nikah. Certificates are issued for religious purposes only.
True Nikkah does not provide civil marriage registration in any jurisdiction, and a nikah conducted through this service does not make you legally married.
A nikah is a religious marriage under Islamic law. It is not registered with any government, does not create a legally recognised marriage in any country, and does not by itself confer any legal right, entitlement or status, including in relation to property, inheritance, taxation, next of kin status, parental rights, immigration or nationality.
This is not a limitation of conducting a ceremony online. An in-person nikah at a mosque has exactly the same status unless it is separately registered with the civil authority.
If you require legal recognition of your marriage, you must register separately with the relevant civil authority where you live. Depending on your location this may involve:
Registration requirements, eligibility rules, notice periods and documentation differ by jurisdiction, change over time, and are entirely outside the control of True Nikkah.

Nothing on this website, in any communication from our team, or in any statement made by an Imam during a ceremony, constitutes legal advice or should be relied upon as such. True Nikkah conducts nikah ceremonies. We do not issue fatwas or provide personal religious rulings on matters beyond the conduct of your ceremony.
Our Imams will explain what is required for a valid nikah, discuss how the requirements apply to your circumstances, and advise honestly whether we are able to conduct your marriage. They will not:
Where a question arises that falls outside the conduct of your ceremony, we will say so and recommend that you consult a scholar or an established Islamic institution in your own community.
Islamic marriage law is not uniform across the recognised schools of thought. Positions differ on a number of matters relevant to the conduct of a nikah, most notably the requirement for a wali and the circumstances in which one may be appointed, and in some respects on the requirements relating to witnesses.
Our Imams conduct ceremonies in accordance with recognised positions within classical Islamic jurisprudence. Where a couple’s circumstances engage a matter on which the schools differ, the position applied is discussed with the couple before the ceremony, and where necessary the matter is reviewed by our Director.
If you follow a particular madhhab, or if a particular position is important to you or to your family, please tell us before booking. We will confirm whether we are able to conduct your ceremony in accordance with it. We would far rather have that conversation in advance than have a couple discover afterwards that a relative or a scholar takes a different view.
True Nikkah cannot guarantee that a nikah conducted through this service will be regarded as valid by every scholar, every institution, or every family member, in circumstances where recognised scholarly opinion genuinely differs. What we can confirm is that every ceremony is conducted in accordance with a recognised position, by a qualified Imam, and that the basis on which it was conducted is documented.
The validity of a nikah relies entirely on the accuracy, completeness and truthfulness of the information you provide.
By using True Nikkah services, you confirm that:
Our Imams exercise independent religious judgement and will conclude a marriage only where sufficient and appropriate information has been provided to confirm that every condition of a valid nikah is satisfied.
Providing inaccurate or misleading information may result in refusal to conduct a ceremony, withdrawal of a certificate already issued, refusal of a refund, and reporting to the relevant authorities where required by law or where an offence is suspected.
True Nikkah cannot verify what is not disclosed. We accept no responsibility for the consequences of information withheld or misrepresented by either party.
True Nikkah is not a government body, registrar, court or legal authority, and does not control or influence decisions made by any third party.
While certificates are issued by qualified Imams and accurately record the marriage contract concluded, True Nikkah cannot guarantee that a nikah certificate will be accepted by any particular organisation for any particular purpose. Acceptance always rests with the body concerned, at its discretion, in accordance with its own policies and applicable law.

Nor can we guarantee any outcome in a visa, residency, settlement, citizenship or family law application, or in any proceeding in which a nikah certificate is submitted.
If you require a nikah certificate for a specific official purpose, you should confirm the requirements with the receiving authority before booking. Some authorities require a civil marriage certificate and will not accept a religious record in any form.
Ceremonies are conducted using third-party video conferencing platforms, currently Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Printed certificates are delivered using third-party postal and courier services. Payments are processed by third-party payment providers including Stripe and PayPal.
True Nikkah selects reputable providers and configures those services appropriately, but does not control third-party platform availability, technical performance, processing times or delivery outcomes.
Where a technical failure attributable to a third-party platform prevents a ceremony from proceeding, we will reschedule at no cost or refund you in full, as set out in our Terms of Service. We are not otherwise liable for consequences arising from third-party service failures outside our reasonable control.
Where True Nikkah coordinates any additional service through a third-party specialist, we facilitate coordination only. Such services remain subject to independent processing and, where relevant, to authority review and discretion.
All services at True Nikkah operate within a structured organisational religious governance framework. Oversight is provided by our Director, supported by internal quality monitoring, ethical standards, and accountability processes set out in our Code of Practice.
Imams providing services through True Nikkah:
Our Imams may decline to conclude a marriage at any point, including during the ceremony itself, where any condition of a valid nikah cannot be confirmed or where either party does not appear to be participating freely. Such decisions are final and cannot be overridden by commercial, operational or administrative staff.
True Nikkah maintains internal governance processes designed to support ethical service delivery, religious integrity, safeguarding awareness, and the responsible issuing of religious documentation.
True Nikkah does not conduct ceremonies where either party is under the age of eighteen, under any circumstances, on any grounds, and irrespective of what may be permitted in any jurisdiction or according to any particular opinion.
A marriage entered under coercion, duress or pressure is not valid in Islam and will not be conducted by True Nikkah. Where there is any indication that either party is not entering the marriage freely, the ceremony is stopped and the marriage is not concluded.
Where we have reasonable grounds to believe that a person is at risk of harm, is being coerced, or is under the age of eighteen, we may disclose relevant information to the appropriate authorities, applying principles of necessity and proportionality.

True Nikkah handles personal, identity and religious information in accordance with applicable data protection legislation, including the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the EU GDPR, PIPEDA in Canada, and the Australian Privacy Principles, and in line with recognised confidentiality principles appropriate to a religious service.
Information revealing religious belief constitutes special category personal data under Article 9 of the UK and EU GDPR and attracts enhanced safeguards.
Data collected for the arrangement and conduct of your ceremony is processed separately from website analytics and cookie-based data, and is accessed only by authorised personnel for legitimate service delivery and governance purposes.
True Nikkah applies information governance controls designed to protect confidentiality, data integrity, and appropriate access to sensitive information throughout the process.

True Nikkah provides its services on a professional remote basis using reasonable skill and care. Services are dependent on the accuracy of the information provided and, in some respects, on third-party decisions and platforms outside our control.
True Nikkah is not liable for:
To the extent permitted by applicable law, True Nikkah’s total liability arising from any service provided is limited to the amount paid for that service.
Nothing in this Disclaimer limits or excludes liability where such limitation is not permitted by applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
Consumers in the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, Canada and other jurisdictions retain all statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. Nothing in this Disclaimer affects those rights.

You are responsible for ensuring that the marriage you are entering is lawful where you live. Some jurisdictions place restrictions on marriage, including in relation to existing marriages, and entering a religious marriage does not exempt any person from the law of the country in which they reside. True Nikkah does not advise on this and accepts no responsibility for it.
True Nikkah reserves the right to refuse or withdraw services where there are reasonable concerns regarding misuse of a nikah ceremony or certificate.
Our goal is to make a valid Islamic marriage accessible to couples who would otherwise struggle to arrange one, while respecting clear religious boundaries, ethical standards and public trust.
True Nikkah reviews this Disclaimer, its governance processes and its service standards at least once every twelve months, and sooner where legal, ethical, operational or religious considerations require it, to ensure continued alignment with recognised expectations.
