These Terms explain how True Nikkah provides online nikah ceremonies and associated Islamic marriage services, including the conduct of nikah ceremonies by verified Imams for couples in the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Australia, the European Union and worldwide, the provision of wali services where required, the provision of practising Muslim witnesses, and the issuing of nikah certificates recording the marriage contract.
True Nikkah provides services supporting Islamic marriage, including but not limited to nikah ceremonies for couples separated by distance, couples without access to a local mosque, reverts to Islam, and brides for whom a wali is not available, and operates within defined religious, ethical and information governance frameworks designed to support the valid and responsible conduct of remote Islamic marriage ceremonies.
All ceremonies operate under the religious oversight of our Director, Dr Mahmoud Abdelrahman. Ceremonies are delivered within our structured religious governance framework, supported by robust information governance controls, safeguarding responsibilities, and the principle of independent religious decision making. We implement identity verification, age verification and consent verification procedures to maintain the integrity of the marriages we conduct and the certificates we issue.
Our services are designed to meet recognised regulatory, professional and data protection obligations, including the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act in Canada, and the Australian Privacy Principles, together with the confidentiality standards expected of a service handling information revealing religious belief. We also apply governance standards consistent with recognised expectations for the handling of special category personal data.

Welcome to True Nikkah. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of our website, our services, and the nikah ceremonies we arrange and conduct.
By using our website or purchasing any service from True Nikkah, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must discontinue use of our services.
True Nikkah provides remote nikah ceremonies and associated Islamic marriage services for couples worldwide, including but not limited to:
Our services operate within defined religious governance, information governance, and ethical frameworks, set out in full in our Code of Practice.
These Terms operate alongside our Code of Practice, Privacy Policy, Cookie Policy and Disclaimer, each of which forms part of the framework governing the provision of our services.
True Nikkah provides a religious marriage ceremony under Islamic law. We do not provide civil marriage registration, and we are not a government body, registrar or legal service.
A nikah conducted through True Nikkah is a religious marriage. It is not registered with any government, does not create a legally recognised marriage in any jurisdiction, and does not by itself confer any legal right, status or entitlement. Your nikah certificate is a religious record of the marriage contract, not a legal document, and it carries no legal effect.
If you require legal recognition of your marriage, you must register separately with the civil authority responsible in the place where you live. In the United States this is normally a county clerk, in Canada a provincial or territorial registry, in the United Kingdom a register office or a mosque registered for the solemnisation of marriages, in Australia a state or territory registry through an authorised celebrant, and elsewhere the equivalent local authority. Registration requirements, waiting periods and eligibility rules differ by jurisdiction, change over time, and are entirely outside the control of True Nikkah.
True Nikkah does not provide:
Decisions regarding the recognition or acceptance of a nikah certificate for any purpose rest entirely with the authority or organisation concerned. Such decisions are made at their discretion, in accordance with their own policies and applicable law, and True Nikkah has no influence over them and accepts no responsibility for them.

True Nikkah arranges and conducts nikah ceremonies over live video, led by a qualified Imam trained in classical Islamic jurisprudence and verified in accordance with our Code of Practice, under the religious oversight of our Director, Dr Mahmoud Abdelrahman.
Ceremonies are conducted on the basis of:
Each ceremony includes confirmation of the identity, age and eligibility of both parties, confirmation of the mahr agreed between them, the offer and acceptance made in the presence of two witnesses, verification by the Imam that every condition of a valid nikah has been satisfied, and the issue of a nikah certificate.
All ceremonies are conducted in accordance with recognised standards of Islamic jurisprudence and within the religious governance framework set out in our Code of Practice. Ceremonies are conducted using independent religious judgement, and decisions relating to the validity of a marriage are made solely on the basis of whether the conditions of a valid nikah have been met.
A nikah certificate confirms that, based on the information submitted and the verification carried out during the ceremony, a marriage contract was concluded in accordance with the conditions of a valid nikah. Certification is provided for religious purposes only and does not constitute legal registration of a marriage for any purpose.

Where the bride does not have a wali available, True Nikkah can provide a wali appointed in accordance with Islamic guidance. This is an additional service, charged separately, and is described on our Fees page.
Where a couple’s circumstances raise a question as to whether a wali may properly be appointed, or as to which position applies to their situation, the matter is reviewed by our Director before the booking is accepted. Where we are unable to assist, we will tell you before payment is taken.
Any wali provided by True Nikkah is known to us, verified before taking part in any ceremony, briefed on the significance of the role, and bound by confidentiality obligations.
Where you do not have your own witnesses, True Nikkah can provide two practising Muslim witnesses for your ceremony. This is an additional service, charged separately, and is described on our Fees page.
Witnesses provided by True Nikkah are known to us, verified before taking part in any ceremony, briefed on their obligations, and bound by confidentiality obligations. Witnesses are named on your nikah certificate.
Where you provide your own witnesses, you are responsible for ensuring they are able to attend at the agreed time and are able to hear the offer and acceptance clearly.
All ceremonies delivered by True Nikkah are conducted by qualified Imams operating under the religious oversight of our Director.
Imams providing services through True Nikkah are required to hold formal training in classical Islamic jurisprudence, to demonstrate experience conducting nikah ceremonies, and to provide references from recognised scholars, institutions or communities. All Imams are required to maintain appropriate standing and ongoing competence, and are subject to verification before conducting any ceremony on our behalf. All decisions relating to the validity of a marriage are made through a structured review model designed to support the safe, consistent and religiously accountable conduct of nikah ceremonies. Decisions are made independently, ensuring that religious judgement is not influenced by commercial or administrative considerations.
True Nikkah operates within a structured organisational religious governance framework designed to support the valid and ethical delivery of Islamic marriage services. Services operate in accordance with recognised religious and organisational governance standards, supported by our internal Code of Practice.
True Nikkah maintains internal quality oversight and monitoring processes designed to support ongoing quality assurance and governance monitoring, including periodic review of ceremonies conducted and certificates issued, consistent with recognised organisational governance expectations. Where an error or shortcoming is identified, we apply principles of openness and accountability, informing the couple concerned and explaining what has occurred.
True Nikkah Imams maintain full independence and are required to exercise independent religious judgement in all matters relating to the validity of a marriage. Decisions are made in accordance with recognised standards of Islamic jurisprudence and are guided by religious integrity, the welfare of both parties, and ethical responsibility.
An Imam may decline to conclude a marriage where, in his religious judgement:
All Imams are expected to act in accordance with recognised standards of Islamic jurisprudence and the ethical expectations set out in our Code of Practice.
Religious decisions are final and cannot be overridden by True Nikkah commercial, operational or administrative staff. Religious judgement takes precedence over operational, commercial or scheduling considerations at all times.
Services are delivered within an organisational framework supported by our Code of Practice, which reinforces the requirement for independent, careful and ethically responsible religious decision making. Oversight is maintained at organisational level through the Director’s governance role, without interference in the judgement exercised by an individual Imam during a ceremony.
Where a ceremony does not proceed for any of the reasons set out above, sections 10 and 11 apply.
True Nikkah operates strict identity verification, age verification and integrity procedures designed to protect the validity of the ceremonies we conduct and the certificates we issue. These procedures form part of our broader organisational governance standards relating to document authenticity, service integrity and the responsible conduct of religious marriage.
You must provide valid photographic identification confirming the identity and age of both parties before a ceremony can be conducted. Accepted identification documents may include:
True Nikkah reserves the right to request additional identity verification information where required to confirm identity or age, or where inconsistencies are identified during the verification process.
Submission of false, misleading or intentionally incomplete information may:
True Nikkah may refuse to conduct a ceremony, or may withdraw a certificate already issued, where identity or age cannot be reliably verified or where there are reasonable concerns regarding the authenticity of information or documentation submitted.
True Nikkah will not, under any circumstances:
We recognise that couples occasionally request a certificate showing an earlier date. Requests of this kind are declined, the reason is explained, and the booking may be cancelled. A certificate that does not reflect what actually occurred is worthless as a record and dishonest as a document.
These procedures support our safeguarding responsibilities relating to the prevention of misuse of religious documentation and the protection of individuals and institutions who may rely on it.
To use True Nikkah services, both parties must:
The validity of a nikah is dependent on the accuracy and completeness of the information provided. Provision of incomplete, misleading or inaccurate information may result in refusal to conduct a ceremony, withdrawal of a certificate already issued, or suspension of services.
True Nikkah reserves the right to refuse, suspend or withdraw services where eligibility cannot be confirmed, where identity or age cannot be verified, or where the information provided is inconsistent with the responsible conduct of a religious marriage.
True Nikkah may also refuse services where there are reasonable concerns regarding the misuse of a nikah ceremony or certificate, including in connection with immigration, benefit or other applications.
Consent must be given freely by both parties. This is a condition of validity in Islam and it is a condition of our service.
Our Imams confirm consent directly with each party during the ceremony, and satisfy themselves that both are entering the marriage of their own free will.
Where there is any indication that either party is not entering the marriage freely, the ceremony is stopped and the marriage is not concluded. This applies regardless of the amount paid, who made the booking, who else is present on the call, and what stage the ceremony has reached.
Where a concern arises before a ceremony, the booking is escalated to our Director and will not proceed until the concern is resolved to his satisfaction.
True Nikkah may disclose relevant information where required by law, regulatory obligation, or public interest safeguarding responsibilities. This may include circumstances where there are reasonable grounds to believe that a person is at risk of harm, that a person is being coerced, that a person under the age of eighteen is involved, or where disclosure is required to support public safety or a lawful investigation.
Any disclosure of information is made applying principles of necessity, proportionality and confidentiality. We aim to ensure that only the minimum necessary information is disclosed, and only to appropriate authorised bodies where legally or ethically required.
Our Imams and staff are expected to balance the confidentiality owed to couples against safeguarding duties, in accordance with the ethical standards set out in our Code of Practice. Where appropriate, we aim to communicate openly regarding disclosure decisions, consistent with our commitment to accountability.
To enable us to conduct your ceremony properly, you agree to:
The validity of your nikah depends on the accuracy of the information you provide. True Nikkah cannot verify information that is not disclosed or is inaccurately reported, and accepts no responsibility for the consequences of information withheld or misrepresented.
Payments must be made in full at the time of booking using secure third-party payment providers. True Nikkah uses established and industry-standard payment processing platforms to support secure financial transactions. Payment providers currently include Stripe, PayPal, and supported digital wallet services such as Apple Pay and Google Pay.
True Nikkah does not store or directly process full payment card details and is not responsible for technical failures, service interruptions or processing delays caused by external payment providers.
We accept all major debit and credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express, along with other payment methods supported by our payment providers where available.
All prices are displayed clearly at the point of purchase, including the price of any additional services such as a wali, witnesses or a printed certificate. Current pricing is set out on our Fees page. Prices may change from time to time but will not affect bookings that have already been completed and confirmed.
Ceremony times are agreed with you and are subject to the availability of a suitable Imam. Where a ceremony is requested at short notice, availability may be limited, and we will confirm before payment is taken whether your preferred timing can be met. Where we are unable to arrange a ceremony within the timeframe agreed, you may reschedule or receive a refund in full.
True Nikkah maintains financial transaction practices designed to support transparency, transaction integrity and fair commercial conduct in accordance with recognised business governance expectations.
You may cancel at any time before your ceremony and receive a refund in full. No reason is required and no deduction is made.
This applies to the ceremony itself and to any additional services purchased alongside it, at any point up until the ceremony begins.
Once a ceremony has taken place, refunds are not generally available, as the service has been delivered in full. Refund requests made after a ceremony are assessed on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the stage of service delivery, the nature of the request, and the information provided during the booking process. True Nikkah aims to apply refund decisions fairly, consistently and in line with responsible operational standards.
Refunds after a ceremony are available where:
Where an error is identified, True Nikkah will take reasonable steps to correct it, which may include reissuing a corrected certificate, arranging a further ceremony at no cost, or, where appropriate, issuing a refund. Where an error occurs, we aim to correct the issue and communicate openly with the couple concerned, consistent with our commitment to accountability.
Where an Imam declines to conclude a marriage for a reason set out in section 4, and that reason arises from information you provided accurately and in good faith at the time of booking, you will receive a refund in full. Where the reason arises from information that was inaccurate, incomplete or withheld, a refund may be withheld in whole or in part, reflecting the work carried out.
Refunds are not provided where a ceremony could not proceed because required identity or age verification was not completed, or where the information supplied was inaccurate or misleading.
Refunds are made to the original payment method, normally within ten working days of the decision.
You may reschedule your ceremony by contacting us as early as reasonably possible. We will arrange an alternative time subject to the availability of a suitable Imam. There is no charge to reschedule, and further changes are accommodated where reasonably possible.
Where a technical failure on our side prevents a ceremony from proceeding, we will reschedule at no cost to you or provide a refund in full, at your option.
Where a connection failure affects your side of the call, your Imam will wait and resume the ceremony once everyone is present. Nothing is concluded until both parties have given the offer and acceptance in the presence of the witnesses, so an interrupted connection cannot leave a marriage partly completed. Where the ceremony cannot be completed on the day, it will be rescheduled at no cost.
True Nikkah is not responsible for failures of internet connectivity, devices, or third-party video conferencing platforms outside our reasonable control, but we will always work with you to find an alternative time.
Your nikah certificate is issued digitally following your ceremony. Printed copies are posted where purchased.
Each certificate records the full names of both parties, the mahr agreed, the names of the witnesses present, the wali where one acted, the date of the ceremony, and the full name of the Imam who conducted it.
True Nikkah retains a record of every ceremony conducted, so that a certificate can be verified or reissued in future. Couples frequently request copies years after their ceremony. Retention arrangements are set out in our Privacy Policy.
Your nikah certificate is a religious record of the marriage contract. It is not a legal document, is not registered with any authority, and True Nikkah makes no representation that it will be accepted by any government body, court, tribunal, embassy, consulate, employer or other third party for any purpose.
Where a certificate is lost, we can reissue a copy on request, subject to identity verification. Where a certificate contains an error attributable to True Nikkah, we will correct and reissue it at no cost.
True Nikkah treats every booking as private. Many couples arrange their nikah without the knowledge of their families, and we build our processes on that assumption rather than treating it as an exception.
We do not disclose that you have contacted or used True Nikkah to any person outside those directly involved in arranging and conducting your ceremony. We do not publish, share or reference identifying details in marketing, case studies or testimonials without your explicit written consent. We do not add you to marketing lists as a consequence of booking.
Imams, witnesses and any wali provided by True Nikkah are bound by confidentiality obligations and are briefed accordingly before taking part.

True Nikkah processes personal, identity and religious information in accordance with applicable data protection and confidentiality requirements, including the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, the EU GDPR, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act in Canada, and the Australian Privacy Principles.
Information revealing religious belief constitutes special category personal data under Article 9 of the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, and sensitive information under Canadian, Australian and several United States privacy frameworks. True Nikkah processes such information only on the basis of explicit consent obtained at the point of booking, and applies enhanced safeguards accordingly.
True Nikkah maintains structured organisational information governance policies designed to support confidentiality, data integrity, controlled access and secure lifecycle management of the personal and religious information handled in the course of arranging and conducting ceremonies.

True Nikkah provides its services on a professional basis, using reasonable skill and care, based on the information supplied during the booking and verification process, and in accordance with recognised religious and organisational standards and our Code of Practice.
True Nikkah is not responsible for decisions made by third-party authorities or organisations, including but not limited to:
True Nikkah does not control the decision-making processes of any such body and cannot guarantee acceptance of a nikah certificate for any purpose.
We are also not responsible for failures of internet connectivity, devices or third-party video conferencing platforms outside our reasonable control, or for any consequence arising from inaccurate or incomplete information provided by you.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, True Nikkah’s total liability arising from any service provided is limited to the total amount paid by you for the relevant service.
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where such limitation or exclusion is not permitted by applicable law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
Consumers in the United Kingdom, the European Union, Australia, Canada and other jurisdictions retain all statutory rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. Nothing in these Terms affects those rights.
True Nikkah is committed to handling complaints fairly, transparently and in a timely manner. Complaints may be submitted via our Contact page or by emailing us directly at info@truenikkah.com.
All complaints are logged securely and reviewed in accordance with internal complaint handling procedures designed to support fair, consistent and proportionate review.
We aim to acknowledge complaints within two working days and to resolve them within ten working days where reasonably possible. Where additional investigation or religious review is required, we will keep you informed of progress and expected timeframes.
Complaints relating to the conduct of a ceremony, the judgement of an Imam, or the validity of a marriage are escalated for religious review. Such cases are overseen by our Director, Dr Mahmoud Abdelrahman, who reviews the records, may consult the Imam involved, and responds in accordance with our Code of Practice.
Where a ceremony is found not to have met our standards, we will say so, explain what went wrong, and put it right.
True Nikkah uses complaint feedback as part of ongoing service improvement and quality monitoring processes.
All website content, branding, certificate designs, documentation templates, text, graphics, images and digital materials made available through True Nikkah remain the intellectual property of True Nikkah or its licensors unless otherwise stated.
This includes, but is not limited to, nikah certificate templates and designs, documentation formats, service descriptions, guidance articles and website content created for the delivery of True Nikkah services.
Unauthorised copying, reproduction, modification, distribution, resale or commercial use of any True Nikkah content or materials is prohibited except where permitted by applicable law or with prior written permission from True Nikkah.
Your nikah certificate is issued to you for your own use and you may reproduce it for your own purposes. Reproducing our certificate design, or issuing documents presented as True Nikkah certificates, is prohibited.
True Nikkah reserves the right to take appropriate action to protect its intellectual property rights and the integrity of its documentation.
Official communications relating to your use of True Nikkah services will normally be sent to the email address or telephone number you provide at booking. This may include booking confirmations, scheduling arrangements, requests for additional information, certificate delivery notifications, complaint responses and other service-related communications.
You are responsible for ensuring that your contact information remains accurate and up to date at all times. True Nikkah is not responsible for missed communications, service delays or delivery failures resulting from incorrect or outdated contact details provided by you.
Where discretion is important to you, please provide contact details that only you can access, and tell us if there are times at which it is not appropriate to contact you. We will follow your instructions.
Communications sent to your registered contact details will be treated as delivered once sent, unless we are notified of delivery failure.
True Nikkah uses secure communication practices designed to support the safe and reliable transmission of service-related communications.
True Nikkah may update these Terms from time to time to reflect legal, regulatory, operational or service-related changes. Updated versions of these Terms will be published on this page and will include the revised effective date.
Where appropriate, True Nikkah may take reasonable steps to notify users of material changes to these Terms.
Changes do not apply retrospectively to bookings already confirmed. By continuing to use True Nikkah services after updated Terms have been published, you agree to be bound by the updated version.
